The Plant City Jobs campaign is the collaborative effort of Safe and Sound Hillsborough, the Plant City EDC, the Improvement League of Plant City and the Greater Plant City Chamber of Commerce. Working together to provide innovative job placement services for both Plant City companies and Plant City workers, the coming job fair features over 30 different types of positions and pre-screened applicants will be scheduled for final interviews to take place at the job fair.

	Utilizing a public health model, Safe & Sound Hillsborough looks at the risk and protective factors of violence and seek ways to remediate those factors. Data shows that diminished economic opportunities including high unemployment, disparate hiring/employment practices, and lack of higher education and/or vocational certification amongst residents of high-risk communities have a direct correlation to an increase in potential community violence. Through a joint partnership with Safe & Sound Hillsborough, the Improvement League of Plant City, the Greater Plant City Chamber of Commerce and the Plant City EDC, employer partners have been identified and have agreed to do on the spot hiring for pre-vetted candidates. Candidates will be pre-screened according to minimum qualifications. Safe & Sound Hillsborough (S&SH) is providing resources for background screening and drug testing of pre-screened candidates, Plant City EDC has identified the employer partners, the Improvement League of Plant City is helping to recruit employers, the Greater Plant City Chamber of Commerce is working on the coordination of the event. Our goal is to work with community agencies to recruit highly skilled individuals that meet the hiring criteria, vet them through a screening process and upon completion, pay for background screens and drug tests, the sometimes only contingency for hire after the interview process. After successfully passing the screening, the individuals would then be admitted to the hiring fair to interview with hiring managers for a hopeful same day hire event.
